The Red Swoosh plug-in dramatically improves the speed and quality of downloads and streams that your favorite sites are able to provide to you. You'll see a great improvement in your download experience in many cases twice as fast as normal. The client does away with much of the traffic spikes and network congestion that can make the Net not so fun a place to get your content. Most sites that support Red Swoosh do so to provide you a much richer, broadband-enabled service offering.

When you click on a link utilizing Red Swoosh technology (a swooshed link), the Red Swoosh technology creates efficiency and speed in several ways. The client works by coordinating all caches of content on the network, including caches on end user machines as well as web servers and other sources. Mostly, the client employs significantly more intelligence in the download process:

• downloading from multiple sources of a file simultaneously
• connecting to other end user machines to help speed delivery (P2P)
• continually looking for (and connecting to) faster/nearer sources of a file
• intelligently routing your download around network congestion and traffic spikes

Red Swoosh captures and stores less information than a standard web server. Red Swoosh only works as a protocol to manage the distribution of files over IP networks and is solely used for that function. And just to be clear ABSOLUTELY ZERO personal information is *ever* captured shared or stored on any part of the Red Swoosh system.

If you are not already installed, when you click on a swooshed link, you will have a Red Swoosh installation page. Here are the steps to take to install:

• Click on the 'Install' button.
• In Internet Explorer, Click 'Run' on the first dialog to appear.
• In Firefox, click 'OK' on 'Opening File' dialog box. After downloading, click 'Open' in Firefox download manager.
• Wait for the installation to complete, and your download will begin momentarily.

The Red Swoosh client works with Windows 2000, XP (Service Pack 1 & 2). Also, the client requires Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher or Firefox 1.0 and above.

If you wish to uninstall Red Swoosh, click Start > Control Panel and select 'Add or Remove Programs'. The Red Swoosh client is listed as "Red Swoosh EDN Client".
