Red Swoosh employees are incredibly passionate about the Red Swoosh product and are excited about the huge impact distributed networking will ultimately have on the networking technology landscape. Before starting the company, we had clear ideas about what was missing in the marketplace, and how distributed networking could have an enormous impact for enterprises and Internet applications alike. The following are the important values and philosophies that go into every bit in the binary. Transparency At Red Swoosh we know Networking is a means to an end. When applications are performing at or above expectations, the network should be invisible. When QoS guarantees are a reality, and dynamic application delivery is push-button technology, applications can take the network for granted. Our goal at Red Swoosh is to make the network invisible, to work to make sure the next generation of applications providers dont have to think about the network. We do this by harnessing every resource in the network and unleashing the massive uncoordinated resources that sit on it, and doing so completely transparently. The Goal is to separate the request of data from its location. The customer Swooshes their URLs and Red Swoosh takes over in determining from what aggregate of resources each request for data is fulfilled to reach QoS, performance, and cost requirements. The Customer never has to deal with the complexity of the network, and can configure RS dynamically to perform according to its cost and QoS requirements. Performance When building a system that has complete end-to-end knowledge of the network, there is no stricter requirement than performance. Our directory service currently maintains hundreds of thousands of concurrent persistent connections to network resources around the globe. Those resources' availability, storage capability, cached data sets constantly change, and must be tracked in a real-time fashion. Scale is crucial. 100's of millions of daily inserts and deletes into our proprietary, in-memory database must be lightning fast, and the millions of queries into that directory must be accurate and be returned under 50ms. Our engineering team's roots are in building one of the first massively scaled Data Grids in the world, holding 250,000 concurrent connections open supporting 20M daily transactions, and 50M daily inserts and deletes. We believe in products that deliver commercial-grade scalability and performance and prefer results over slick slides, and talk that doesn't deliver. Our products are engineering products that perform as advertised, exceeding customer expectations, and ultimately letting our customers forget about the network and focus on their applications delivering results. Control Our customers deliver applications over the network. They want to control those applications, how they are used, and how they perform. They do not want to push their data or content through a disparate, awkward content management system. They do not want their networking solution to put constraints on their applications. All companies delivering networked applications deserve the right to control the user interface into their applications, and should not have to settle for a foreign interface that thwarts their own control and flexibility of the experience they provide. |
